Payne's Hut Property
Payne's Hut Property

Payne’s Hut is an Australian-styled experience situated in the upper reaches of the Mitta Mitta River in an area known as Shannonvale or Glen Valley. It’s north of Omeo, past the Blue Duck as you head north or ‘over the other side’ of Falls Creek and Mount Hotham for snow lovers, or south east of Albury-Wodonga.

Payne’s Hut is a base to explore the High Plains, to enjoy hearing about the local area, to go fishing, walk and enjoy a packed lunch or read a book in the garden or on the outdoor bed. Bring friends along and enjoy learning how to bake bread and make pasta one afternoon.

The property is yours to explore and to luxuriate in. Hosts Tess and Graham Payne have based their business on their 5 heart principles.

Payne’s Hut was established and built with care by Tess and Graham Payne. As Tess says, “Grae fell in love with the land and I fell in love with him”. They have specially designed this sanctuary for you to relax and leave your cares behind.

Tess and Graham, pride themselves on keeping their property historically and authentically connected to the area. The property adds elements of surprise and expectation a true retreat, a sanctuary. The buildings are simple, built out of slabs of timber and corrugated iron, all designed and built with their involvement and hands.

Tess and Graham revel in the local area that they have called home for over a decade, getting close to two! With world experiences and previous lives in the city, they chose this area called “Shannonvale” as their home and have built a remote country oasis like no other.
