WORKSHOPS

Payne’s Hut now offers workshops amongst the gumtrees and garden of Payne’s Hut. Workshops are a lot of fun while learning recipes you can repeat again at home as well as important tips and tricks.

The aim is to step out and have a break and at the same time returning with a skill that will add colour to your life.

Tess and Graham Payne create scrumptious dishes and have years of cooking experience. They trained in Australia and France, as well as running profitable hospitality operations for many years and their love of food and decades of experience play out in their workshops. The style of teaching and environment is informal and you will learn techniques and what to add or leave out to ensure you create something delicious that looks great.

Tess and Graham teach confidently so you can easily learn skills in a way that you will continue to use.

If you have wanted to learn how to cook in a relaxed environment or hone your skills through experienced cooks, we can cater to your specific ideas and learning needs. And if you’ve a new topic to learn, let us know so we can create your personalised learning.

Example workshop day: Starting at 10am with a cuppa, you are guided through the process of making your own bread dough, then a light lunch while your bread bakes and into learning to make cakes that you’ve savoured from the past.

Everything supplied for $60 per head including your delicious lunch.

Payne’s Hut workshops are special experiences designed for you to come for the day and also for groups of 8 people on a 2- or 3-day stay. Make a weekend of it.

Learn ease-fully with our unique backdrop as part of your Payne’s Hut experience of walking the beautiful High Plains forest, reading a book, or chatting with like minded people.

Workshops rely on 6 people or more in attendance – in the unlikely instance of less than 6 we may decide to postpone.
With advance noticed, we can accommodate 20 people and create programs to suit.

Call us to organise your workshop on 03 5159 7255.

TEAM BUILDING WORKSHOPS

Payne’s Hut offers team building experiences for organisations with groups of 20-30 people. It’s a unique bush setting, with no internet or mobile phone distractions. Connect with your colleagues, get to know each other, and work better together. Include local activities such as bushwalks from Falls Creek into Payne’s Hut, horseriding, river kayaking or sourdough breadmaking workshops. We can help design a program to make the most of your time together. View and download the brochure here.

We hold 5 Team-Building Workshops a year on property so please do get in touch as early as you can with your proposed dates.

CASE STUDY

We hosted a 3 day business retreat for 20 IKEA Australian senior leaders. They flew into Albury and were picked up in a bus driven by Grae, down through Mitta and into Payne’s Hut. The property was alive with happy faces and international and local accents. Together, these clever and fascinating businesspeople planned, got to know each other, were awed by an inspiring talk on their first night by Tim Cope (who walked from Mongolia to Hungary over 3.5 years!). The following day was a long walk of their own – 23km from Watchbed Creek near Falls Creek to Payne’s Hut – where they arrived bubbling with enthusiasm and ready for homemade pizzas and a hearty dinner. The final morning was full of business planning before heading off in the bus to Albury airport. Tess & Grae’s menu consisted of steaks with pickled roasted figs, potatoes, jerusalem artichokes, panacotta with stewed pink quinces, chocolate chunks with pistaccio, laksa with a side serve of meatballs with cos lettuce cups; lamb racks with orange and onion couscous, a superb cooked breakfast on the final day and plenty of just-out-of-the-oven hot muffins with layers of flavours and lots of Beraldo coffee throughout the days.
